Delete your Kemback account

You can delete your Kemback account yourself at any time, from any of our apps, and it happens straight away. If you can’t sign in, you can ask us by email instead (see below). Kemback is made by Phlorin LLC.

Delete it yourself

You’ll be asked for your password, and for your two-step code if you’ve turned two-step verification on. If your account has no password (you created it by signing in with Google, Apple, LinkedIn or Facebook), you confirm it’s you by signing in again with that account instead.

  • On the web: sign in, open Security and choose Delete account. You can go straight to kemback.com/settings/security.
  • In the iPhone app: open More, then Security, then Delete account.
  • In the Android app: open More, then Security, then Delete account. An account with no password can’t yet confirm it’s you in the Android app; delete it on the web instead.

Before anything is deleted, Kemback shows you what will be deleted and what will stay. If you’re the only owner of a household that other people share, you’ll be asked to make someone else an owner there first, or to remove the other members, so that their household isn’t left without an owner.

What’s deleted

Deletion is immediate. When you confirm:

  • Your sign-in goes. That means your password, passkeys, two-step verification, push tokens and every signed-in device. You’re signed out everywhere.
  • Linked sign-ins are removed. If you signed in with Apple, we also tell Apple to forget the link.
  • Households only you belong to go, with everything in them: accounts, transactions, budgets, bills, goals, rules and their activity log.
  • In households you share, you’re removed. Your private accounts there are deleted with their transactions.
  • Bank connections you made are disconnected at the bank’s provider.
  • Your place on the Plus waitlist goes, if you joined it.
  • We send a last email to confirm the deletion.

What’s kept

  • Shared households keep their shared data. The shared accounts, transactions and budgets stay with the other members, and that household’s activity log keeps a record of what you did there and that you left, because it is tamper-evident and can’t be rewritten.
  • Backups. Copies in our backups are overwritten within a further 30 days.
  • What the law requires us to keep, if anything.

Our Privacy Policy has the full details.

Plus subscriptions

  • Bought on our website: deleting your account cancels it automatically, so you aren’t charged again.
  • Bought in the App Store or on Google Play: we can’t cancel these for you. Cancel the subscription in the store, in your iPhone’s Settings under your Apple ID, or in the Google Play Store app under Payments and subscriptions. Do this before or after you delete your account; deleting the account doesn’t stop the store from charging you.

If you can’t sign in

If you’ve forgotten your password, you can reset it and then delete the account yourself.

Otherwise, email hello@kemback.com from the email address on the account, and ask us to delete it. We may ask you to confirm that it’s you, so we never delete someone else’s account. We delete it within 30 days, in the same way as above, apart from what we must keep by law, and we email you when it’s done.

You don’t need the app to do this, and you don’t need to reinstall it.
